Details: 2K and Turtle Rock officially announce EVOLVE

Posted by: 1/14/2014

We have recently reported that Evolve made the next Game Informer cover and that the Turtle Rock developed game will be published by 2K after being picked up by parent company Take Two in the THQ auction.

Today 2K Games released some more information about the 4 versus 1 coop game, in which  a team of four hunters face off against a single, player-controlled monster, that will launch on PS4, XBox One and PC only later this year.

When part of the coop team hunting the beast, players will experience Evolve as a first person shooter while the player being the monster will play in the third person perspective.

“Our philosophy is to build incredibly fun game experiences that we can’t find anywhere else,” said Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios. “Evolve’s co-op vs. lone wolf formula has created some of the most intense multiplayer matches we’ve ever experienced.”

Pre-ordering the game at participating retailers will also land you a new skin for Goliath, the first monster in the game, as well as a totally new monster free of charge in the form of download codes.

We are pretty excited about Evolve as it is very reminiscent of the awesome Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 especially where players would take control of the special infected.

Evolve will be a generation-defining multiplayer experience,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “As our first new IP for next-gen systems, 2K is working with Turtle Rock Studios to deliver a game that’s instantly entertaining and impossible to put down.”

2K is investing heavily into this game and willing to take some major risks as console penetration of the next-generation systems is nowhere near where the PS3 and Xbox 360 are at the moment. Once the Game Informer issue hits subscribers we will know a lot more about Evolve.
