Gaikai coming as ‘PlayStation Now’ this Summer

During today’s Sony CES Keynote the electronics maker has revealed that the previously announced streaming service Gaikai will finally make its way to market this summer as ‘PlayStation Now’ which will allow users to access the PlayStation library not only on PS4 and Vita but also the PS3, Bravia TV’s SmartPhones, and Tablets. Subscribers will be able to play classic PS One and PS2 games as well as PS3 titles.

While Sony confirmed this will be a subscription based service, it is not clear if it is part of PlayStation Plus. Our bet is that it will be an additional fee. The service will first be available on the PS4 and PS3 consoles followed by the Vita. Another way to use PlayStation Now is to rent specific games a lot like PC Streaming Service OnLive was planning to do.

There will be a beta program for PlayStation Now in the US this November.
