Epic Games announced at GDC this year that their Unreal Engine 4 would switch to a $20 per month subscription model.

Yesterday the new game engine saw its first major update. The update adds support for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux machines, and SteamOS. This is a big update for the engine as it allows developers to use tools for the new consoles, and the upcoming Steam Machines.

In addition to console support, the update adds the ability to develop games for virtual reality headsets, like the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus from Sony.
