Hitman reboot gets new release date and options

A big topic for discussion surrounding the upcoming Hitman game was the plans for release. Players were being asked to pay $60 for an incomplete game, and IO Interactive promised to deliver additional content over the coming months after release.

This has changed, and in addition to the changes, IO has opened up about what will be available to players on release day and the following months.

The new release date for Hitman is March 11th. The game will still cost $60, and if you pre-order, you get into the beta before launch. But there is more information than before.

Those who pay $60 for the game will get all of the content released, which will include three huge sandbox locations at release, and a new sandbox location each month for April, May and June. Also included are six campaign missions set in those three huge locations, and the popular Contracts mode from Hitman: Absolution.

If you don’t want to pay the full $60, you can pay a new Intro price that runs for $35. Included in that is the first three locations, the six campaigns, and the Contracts mode. The additional content in the following three months is not available to those that buy the Intro package. If you want the additional content after only getting the Intro package, it will run you $30.

This seems like a better plan than getting people to just pay $60 for an incomplete game. Big Hitman fans (like me!) will pay up the $60, while those wanting to see if the game is their thing will go for the $35 option.

There are no new trailers for the game, so let’s watch the amazing E3 CGI trailer.
