Plot
Mirror’s Edge takes place in an unnamed metropolis where a totalitarian regime monitors its citizens through invasive surveillance, tracking all forms of electronic communication in order to reduce crime and quell any challenge to its power. An upcoming mayoral election seeks to retain Mayor Callaghan in power to keep the government’s control on the city; though a new favored candidate Robert Pope promises to bring change to the city.

The Eurasian protagonist, Faith, is a “Runner”, a person trained in parkour, to stay out of sight and to use rooftops and other means to help deliver physical messages between revolutionary groups within the city. Faith along with another Runner, Celeste, was trained by Mercury who also provides radio support for the two.”

Gameplay:
5/5 – Singleplayer
For this being the first game to try first-person and parkour (running around, jumping on walls) it worked really, really well. Yes, there are a few things that could have made this game even better, but it doesn’t matter, the game is already tons of fun.

Some problems I had is, Faith would not grab a wall or run on a wall when you can clearly see that she should have. Other than that there were no major problems. The frame rate was top notch the whole time.

Mirror’s Edge is kind of short. There are eight chapters and some of the chapters only take about ten minutes; so you could easily beat it in three or four hours, saying that, I have gone back and played through some of levels many times. The levels are set up really well and it’s fun to try and play through them a little different the next time.

0/5 Multiplayer
There’s no multiplayer just time trials and speed runs. I’m not a big fan of having to beat something under a certain time, so this side of the game was not for me.

5/5 – Graphics:
Mirror’s Edge has a very beautiful (bright and colorful) art style that I just love. I’d have to say the graphics in this are way better looking than GoW2. (But, I guess you can’t really compare them sense GoW2 is darker and dirty, where Mirror’s Edge is colorful and bright.) I can’t wait for a Mirror’s Edge 2 or some other game to have this art style.

The menus also keep the very bright and colorful look which is nice.

5/5 – Sound:
The game nails it down on the sounds. Faith slamming into a wall, guns shooting and all the noises you hear in the world, sound really good and on top of that, one of the best music soundtracks for a game.

In the end:
If you’re like me, you like owning all your favorite games, this is one ill be picking up, but not till it drops to about $20 or $30, its just to short and no mutli-player for me to pick it up at a $60 price. But trust me; this is defiantly one to rent, you can’t pass it up!

5/5 – Rent it

Still not sure if you want to pick it up? Download the demo on both PSN Store and XBLM, if you like the demo you will like the whole game.
