Tony Hawk: SHRED – Goes Big with kids in mind, supports Miis and Avatars

The Tony Hawk franchise has been around for a very long time and was re-imagined with last year’s RIDE. The game was less than stellar, unresponsive and failed to sell well before it went into the bargain bin at WalMart. This year Robomodo and Activision are looking to change Tony Hawk’s audience with SHRED focusing on kids.

The game promises to “GO BIG” with over the top skateboarding and added snowboarding where “kids will be actively using their boundless energy while riding”. SHRED will also support importing of Miis and Avatars to be used as characters in the game.

Activision put up a website for SHRED which is currently a blank page with a coming soon logo but Tony Hawk is already looking forward for the latest entry in his franchise to be available. Hawk said: “I’m also excited about including snowboarding in SHRED, because when we originally came up with the board motion-controller, we didn’t just have skateboarding in mind, and it’s nice to finally see that idea coming to fruition”.

We will know more in the coming weeks and months but I have my reservations. If you have a RIDE controller you can hold onto it as it will be compatible.
