The internet is ready to be set on fire with flame wars over the Battlefield 3 versus Modern Warfare 3 battle. Today we finally received some actual data to fuel the fire.

EA has released a statement to announce that Battlefield 3 has sold through (to consumers) an estimated 5 Million copies worldwide in its first week on sale.

This number, while probably being very accurate, is still based on 'internal estimates' but should provide some insight as to how well the game is doing globally.

Battlefield 3 has not only sold incredibly well but also received critical acclaim, carrying an 'above 85' average on consoles and 'above 90' on the PC.
