Today Deep Silver, the publisher that squired the Metro on Saints Row franchises as well as Saints developer Volition earlier this year, announced the inevitable sequel to Saints Row The Third.
The game is called Saints Row IV this time around and regrettably not ‘The Fourth Row of Saints’ but hey, we can’t have it all right? Saints Row IV is coming to current generation consoles and PC on August 20th in North America and the 23rd in the rest of the world, whatever that is, am I right guys?
Before you read on what exactly Saints Row IV is all about remember this, the game is a Saints Row game. Okay now that we have that covered, let me lay it on you. Saints Row IV is a direct sequel to Saints Row The Third and still follows the story of the Third Street Saints, except this time their leader is also the leader of the free world, yes – the President. I told you to remember this is Saints Row we are talking about. It gets weirder – or more awesome?
Now the larger-than-life insanity of the Saints series gets a new twist with a catastrophic alien invasion, and the aliens have transported the Saints to a bizarro-Steelport simulation. Wield gargantuan superpowers and fight to free humanity from alien granddaddy Zinyak’s mental grasp. Escape the simulation that’s trapped the Saints crew, or die trying.
Since we are talking about aliens here, I can tell you that the Saints will also get to use alien like technology and guns which is awesome. Customization is a factor too of course. Th best part are the new player abilities. The Saints will have super powers that allow them to outrun cars, jump over buildings us telekinesis.

Volition and Deep Silver are doing the right thing here by taking the open world franchise way over the top – more so than before even – in order to differentiate themselves from that ‘other’ open world game that comes out this year. You don’t have to be a Rockstar to know what I am talking about.
