I don’t recall as much back and fourth with a game than the ‘XCOM Shooter’ that has been announced, delayed and even went dark – we thought it had died.

Wonder no more, today 2K Games and 2K Marin have announced that the game is back and called ‘The Bureau: XCOM Declassified’ – we can expect Declassified to hit stores on August 20th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. No mention of WiiU or the next gen consoles.

The Bureau is a third-person tactical shooter set within the XCOM universe, in which you, as special agent William Carter, call the shots and pull the trigger, leading your squad of special agents in the high-stakes secret war for humanity’s survival.

XCOM Declassified is set in 1962 during the Kennedy administration which set up a cold war defense force that is being transformed to fight the alien threat that was discovered.

The Bureau tells the story of XCOM’s mysterious beginnings,” said Morgan Gray, creative director at 2K Marin. “We’re expanding the universe with a declassified tale of government conspiracy and heroic cover-ups told through third-person tactical gameplay.”

In addition to the reveal and news that the game has become a third person tactical shooter, 2K Games also released a 3 minute live action trailer which can be seen below.
