Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising DLC arrives April 16

Activision and Treyarch have revealed the latest piece of DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Titled Uprising, it is being described by the publisher as the “most creative ambitious DLC offerings to date.” The pack will include four new multiplayer maps, plus a brand new zombies experience titled “Mob of the Dead.”

The new multiplayer maps will be called Magma, Encore, Vertigo, and Studio. Magma is a modern Japanese village with volcanic eruptions carving paths through the village. Encore is set in a deserted London music festival, and will be set up to focus on more run-and-gun, close quarters combat. Vertigo is set in a futuristic high rise in India. It houses a high-tech lab featuring “dizzying vistas and multi-tiered pathways.” Studio is a remake of the fan-favorite map Firing Range, which appeared in the original Black Ops game. It is a Hollywood movie back lot with many different cinematic themes that range from sci-fi to the old west.

Mob of the Dead is the new zombie experience, and it will feature four prohibition-era mobsters serving time in Alcatraz Prison. After the dead rise on Alcatraz, the mobsters must use their skills they acquired from a life of crime to survive the island. It also introduces a new feature called Purgatory. If one of the characters is killed by a zombie, they will be sent to the afterlife that has its own set of objectives.

The Uprising DLC will be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 on April 16, with the other platforms getting the DLC some time after that date. It will cost 1200 Microsoft Points, or it will be free for those who purchased the Black Ops II season pass. Check out the trailer for Uprising below.
