Xbox One Launch Delay due to ‘Kinect Voice Localization’

Posted by: 8/27/2013

Well, well… remember when all of you guys in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland had your Xbox One launch delayed to 2014? Right, that was not due to any volume issues of production or the other argument that Microsoft wanted to strenghten the launch in the US, UK or Germany.

The delay is due to Xbox One’s Kinect Voice Localization which is proving a lot more difficult for the console makers since it is so much more ‘integrated’ and ‘elegant’ according to Microsoft’s Senior Director of Product Management and Planning Albert Penello as he told OXM.

One may say, ‘Oh great – because they made Kinect mandatory for all Xbox One’s, I now have my launch delayed because of a thing I didn’t want to begin with’ – sure that is one opinion but Penello thinks Kinect is important, and doing the voice commands right is mandatory.

Either way, if you live in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the UK, the US and New Zealand, you will still receive your Xbox One sometime in November.
