Don’t stand your Xbox One up vertically says Microsoft

In a recent interview with GameSpot UK, Microsoft’s Albert Panello told gamers not to stand up their brand new Xbox One when they pick it up on November 22nd.

“We don’t support vertical orientation; do it at your own risk,” said Albert Panello, senior director of product management for Microsoft’s Xbox division. “It wouldn’t be a cooling problem, we just didn’t design the drive for vertical. Because it’s a slot loading drive, we just didn’t design it for both.”

While I never stood up my Xbox 360 out of fear it would scratch discs, I was considering standing up Microsoft’s new gaming box of magic. Well, not anymore. Maybe that is why we never saw and Xbox One standing upright in any reveal or marketing material.
