Today parent company Take Two revealed that it has already shipped close to 29 million copies of its flag ship title Grand Theft Auto V which launched to critical success and tons of fanfare. The game sold 1 Billion Dollars worth of copies in 3 days alone.
In a statement today Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said:
“The title received stellar reviews, shattered entertainment industry records, and has already sold-in nearly 29 million units to date,” Zelnick stated. “The extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V illustrates the positive momentum in our business and consumers’ enduring appetite for the highest-quality interactive entertainment.”
People love GTA Games, much is clear. While this isn’t as accurate of a measure, if you multiply 29 Million by 60 Dollars, you get an astonishing 1.7 Billion US Dollars as a grossrevenue figure, this does not take into account special editions of the game.
I would say Rockstar and Take Two already more made their money back, and then some. That is almost criminal, right Blondie?
