EA apologizes for NBA LIVE 14, will address with patches

Today the producer for the under-performing NBA LIVE 14, which was a rather disappointing return to franchise on PS4 and Xbox One, apologized in an open letter to fans. Sean O’Brien said, “We hear loud and clear that some of you are disappointed in various aspects of NBA Live 14, and I’m sorry if the game doesn’t live up to your expectations”. He goes on, “Looking at your feedback, we have laid out a plan to make NBA Live 14 a better game as quickly as we can.”

NBA LIVE 14 now sits at a 45 Metacritic score which is certainly not what EA had expected. The real problem here is that EA Sports had pulled the re-branded NBA Elite 11 a couple of years back because of quality issues and since then 2K Games NBA 2K series has taken the crown in the genre.

“In order to get gameplay up and running this year we had to prioritize,” he says in the letter. “We felt authentic gameplay, control and the connected experience would provide the best foundation for the future. As a result, game visuals and animation polish suffered. Improvements on these fronts are also in development now for NBA Live 14. You will notice in the coming weeks and months that the game’s visuals and animation will improve significantly.”

While this isn’t going to help players that have the game in hand right now and are frustrated, EA is going to address the issues and will help new players learn the controls and improve the visual appearance of the game.
