Sony: PlayStation 4 sells 4.2 Million units in 2013

As we reported yesterday, Micorosft sold over 3 Million Xbox Ones in 2013 which was a solid performance to say the least and today Sony provided heir sales figures for the same  period over at their CES Keynote.

According to SCEA CEO Andrew House sold 4.2 Million PlayStation 4’s since the launch of the system and December 28th, 2013. Last month Sony stated the console sold 2.1 Million units which means in a month the company shifted the same amount again.

We all expected to see Sony outsell Microsoft in 2013 given the lower price tag and less conflicting messaging during and ahead of launch but I am not sure if I thought it would be a 1.2 Million margin.

Something of note, the PlayStation 4 has not yet launched in Japan which will be a big boost to the already large figures. Sony also revealed that the streaming service known as Gaikai is now called PlayStation Now and will  launch this summer allowing fans to stream the entire PlayStation library to PS4’s,  TVs and more.

Personally, I am loving both my PS4 and Xbox One and cannot wait to play the great games on both systems in 2014.
