GRID Autosport 3

Today Codies and Bandai Namco announced a new game from the British racing developer called GRID Autosport for the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC. The spiritual successor to the TOCA games will hit North America on June 24th and Europe on the 27th of the same month.

GRID Autosport aims to move the series back in line as a more authentic racing game and below you’ll be finding out some of the ways we’ll be doing that.

After some major reflection and fan input Codemasters went back to the drawing board and re-imagined GRID as what fans wanted it to be initially which is focused on racing with updated handling models, new game modes and a core motorsports feel.

It’s definitely not a full simulation – we want it to be authentic, not clinical – but it’s more towards that end of the spectrum than before. If anything, we believe the handling is actually one or two steps further towards simulation than Race Driver: GRID, to give you an idea.

GRID Autosport Cockpit View is back

We won’t know what it feels like or what that really means until we get our hands on the game in June. Of course some of our beloved racing disciplines make a more prominent return in GRID Autosport.

There’s a vast difference in the way a Touring Car race unfolds compared to that of an Endurance race. Each discipline requires a different approach, strategy and comes complete with its own style of racing.

When it comes to locations Codemasters has some very famous ones featuring in GRID Autosport that will be familiar to racing fans – or should I say motorsport fans.

You will have noticed the likes of Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco, Jarama and Yas Marina within our announcement video but that’s far from the complete roster, there’s plenty more to come.

GRID: Autosport will feature 22 locations with a combined route list that totals over 100!

The GRID career mode makes a return and brings back the teammate you will be racing with as you become a professional race car driver, fulfill sponsor demands and create your own team. In the new GRID you will also be able to give commands to your teammate and request information from the crew chief.

The maybe most demanded feature was the addition of the lack of cockpit view, which GRID Autosport will ship with along with a dashboard cam also – driven by community feedback.

For now check out the trailer below and get ready to burn some rubber in June. Read more about GRID Autsport here.
